What Are We Going To Do?

Our plan for the giant pandas is to buy out multiple acres of land near Gonggashan and Yele in the Sichuan Province, and we hope to use this land to build a park reserve for the remaining giant panda population there. There are already many great reserves established for giant pandas around this province, but not in this area and there is still danger faced by the pandas. With the funding, we hope to establish a safe environment for the pandas to build up their population overtime. Not only that, but this land will be open to the public and allow the many generations of children to have a chance to witness the magnificent giant pandas.

Funding for this project where come from donations from the people, and we have established a shirt design that the profit gained from it will help towards our funding. The shirt will also help promote our organization and spread awareness of the giant pandas.

Estimated cost:

100,000 Acres of Land: $4 million

Concrete Walls: $ 83,484

Buildings/Facilities: $541,200

Workers: $645,000

We need about 100,000 acres of land

to build a reserve that has big enough

room for the pandas to roam.

In order to keep them safe, concrete

walls will be built to insure their

safety from poachers. Other buildings

and facilities are needed for the

workers to house supples and throw

away wastes. For this reserve to

function, a lot of workers are needed to

do duties to keep the reserve running

and clean for the public.

Problem

The panda’s main habitat is in China’s Yangtze Basin region which is also the hearth of economic growth for China. Because of this, China is building more roads and railroads over the region and created a geographic barrier for pandas to mate.

As the population of China grows, the bamboo forests are being cut down to make room for people, and this is a big threat to the survival of the pandas. The Chinese government has set up reserves to protect the pandas, but not all of the population if safe and only 61% is protected.

Poaching is one of the threat that giant pandas used to face, but now it is less common as strict laws were established by the government to protect the pandas.
